The Rufugee Reality/ Refugee - Alan Gratz

Updated: Jun 24, 2019

Ok, lets get to the TRUTH here. Refugees, what are they?

A person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster.

"tens of thousands of refugees fled their homes"

So you might be wondering WHY I care about something happening a world away. I CARE because this is happening today, even in the US. Thousands of FAMILIES are torn apart

Thousands of LIVES are torn apart. FUTURES, FRIENDSHIPS, EVERYTHING, are torn apart. Why I care is because if this ever happened to me, I would hope with all my heart that somebody, anybody, CARES about me, and tries to HELP me. So why shouldn't I do the same to millions of individuals struggling out there? There are refugees ALL AROUND THE WORLD, some refugees never got the freedom they deserved. We can ALL do our part to help refugees in our area. Simply UNDERSTAND and LEARN about them.

To help you a bit: To learn more about these humans throughout the world, read Refugee, by Alan Gratz.

Sneak Peak:

The book, Refugee by Alan Gratz, is about three different individuals during three different time periods.

Josef Landau: Josef is a young jewish boy who’s home was always Nazi Germany in 1938. With dangers of concentration camps and possible deaths, Josef and his family set sail to Cuba on the MS St. Louis...

Isabel Fernandez: Isabel lives in Havana, Cuba, in 1994. At this point, Fidel Castro ruled Cuba, and hunger was among the Cubans. To be given freedom, Isabel, her family, and her friends, set sail in hopes of getting onto US soils...
