Over the Moon - Natalie Lloyd

What does it mean to be free? A family? A house? But what Mallie believes should be called freedom is being able to choose your life. In the book, Over the Moon, by Natalie Lloyd, Mallie is a girl, without a real arm. She has a fake arm, to replace her lost one, called a popsnap. She owns a bright orange one that looks hideous compared to her skin tone. Mallie lives in a village called Coal Top, this village is in depression because of the dust. It wasn’t always this way, Coal Top used to be a beautiful village. The villagers used to weave starlight into cloth, if you wore it at night, in the morning you will be bursting with adventure, or you will be given the ability to heal broken hearts. Now, the dust covers Coal Top, and blankets the village with depression. Mallie is currently 13, and she works as a servant for rich folks, like all girls in her village. Mallie doesn’t like her job, not one bit, but her family depends on her. One day, the guardians appear at her house, ready to take her beloved brother to work in the dark mines below. After working in the deep, dark mines, every boy and man will be scarred for life. And Mallie just wasn’t ready for this to happen to her younger brother, he was only a few years younger than her after all. The reason why the guardians want to take her brother, Denver, earlier than needed is because, well, that’s for me to know and you to find out. When Mallie finds a dangerous opportunity to get a lot of money, she knows she has to accomplish it because the reward just might be enough to save her brother, as well as the village of Coal Top. Will Mallie uncover the mystery of her village? Will she accomplish the goal to get enough money to save Denver? Read the book, Over the Moon, by Natalie Lloyd, to find out what happens.
