Orphan Train Girl - Christina Baker Kline

Who is considered an orphan? Molly, who lives in Spruce Harbor, Maine, thinks that an orphan is someone who doesn’t have family, right? In the book, Orphan Train Girl, by Christina Baker Kline, Molly is an orphan that lives with Ralph and Dina, her foster parents. It was Ralph’s idea to get her, Dina went along with his idea, but wasn’t happy about it. At least, Molly got food, her own room, and most important of all, freedom. When Molly steals a book from the library, an old worn out copy that she thought no one would miss, she is forced to do community service as punishment. Molly’s best friend’s mom, introduced Molly to Vivian, a kind and elderly lady, who gives Molly a job. Molly later realizes how much sadness and history followed this polite lady through her childhood. Molly realizes that she is not the only orphan when working with Vivian. This intriguing journey takes Molly and Vivian through a maze of mystery and truth. Will Molly uncover the whole truth about Vivian? Will Dina start to love Molly like an actual Mom?
